Did you know?
Cai Lun of China is often called the inventor of paper. Around 105 CE, he made paper from tree bark, rags and fishing nets!
The oldest bookmark ever found is over 1,400 years old. It is made of leather and was found in Egypt.
In kirigami, you fold and cut paper to make pop-up designs. In Japanese, 'kiri' means cut and 'kami' means paper.
Try this: Monster Corner Bookmark
Take a square sheet of paper. Fold it corner to corner to make a triangle. Keep the long fold at the bottom. Fold the top corner of the front layer down to the bottom edge. Fold the left and right corners up to the top point. Unfold them, then tuck them into the pocket. Slip it over a page corner. Draw a monster face on it!

Elephants eat lots of grass, leaves and bark. Their dung is full of chewed-up plant fibres (thin threads). Paper is made from plant fibres too! In Jaipur, some papermakers collect elephant dung. They clean it well and soften the fibres. Then they make it into wet sheets and dry them in the sun. Ta-da, elephant paper! Would you write a letter on it?
