Do Good, Be Good
First-Aid Box
A first-aid box helps grown-ups care for small cuts and scrapes. Your most important job is simple: if someone is hurt, tell an adult!
Did you know?
In India, you can call 112 for any emergency, like a fire. Learn this number with an adult!
The stick-on bandage was invented in 1920. Earle Dickson made it for his wife, who often got small cuts while cooking.
World Red Cross Day is on 8 May. It is the birthday of Henry Dunant, who helped start the Red Cross.
Try this: My Help Card
Do this with an adult
With an adult, make a 'Help Card'. Write 112 in big numbers. Add a parent's phone number and your home address. Keep it near the phone or in your school bag. Then, with the adult, look inside your family's first-aid box. Name each thing you see. Never open or touch any medicines yourself.
Go further: Be a Calm Helper
When someone gets hurt, it is normal to feel scared. Take a deep breath. Stay calm and tell an adult straight away. If no adult is near, shout for help. Never give anyone medicine yourself. Grown-ups can learn first aid in special classes. They learn how to help until a doctor comes. When you are older, you can learn it too!
