Do Good, Be Good
Transit Twist
Buses, metros and trains take us to new places every day. Knowing how they work makes every trip safe, smooth and fun!
Did you know?
Trains in Japan are famous for being on time. In 2017, a rail company said sorry because a train left 20 seconds early!
In 1662, the famous maths genius Blaise Pascal started horse-drawn coaches in Paris. They followed fixed routes, just like buses today!
Mumbai has had double-decker buses since 1937. In 2023, India's first electric double-decker bus started running there!
Try this: Read the Timetable
Bus A leaves at 9:00 and arrives at 11:00. Bus B leaves at 9:30 and arrives at 11:15. Which bus takes less time for the trip? Count the minutes for each one. Then make a pretend timetable for a bus from your home to your school!
Show answer
Bus B. It takes 1 hour 45 minutes. Bus A takes 2 hours.

Bus stations can be very crowded. Make a plan with your family before you go. If you lose sight of them, stop and stay where you are. Do not wander off to search. Look for a police officer, a staff member in uniform or the enquiry counter. Tell them your name and a parent's phone number. Never go off with a stranger who offers to help.
