The Asian Games are like the Olympics, but only for countries in Asia. They usually take place once every four years.
The 2026 Asian Games were held in Aichi and Nagoya in Japan. They began on 19 September and ended on 4 October 2026. Athletes took part in 43 different sports.
India did very well! Indian athletes won 85 medals in all. That is 21 gold, 27 silver and 37 bronze medals. India came fourth on the medal tally. China came first. Japan came second. South Korea came third.
Many Indian athletes made us proud. The men’s hockey team won gold. They beat Malaysia 5–1 in the final. Shooter Neeru Dhanda won two gold medals and one silver medal. She carried India’s flag at the closing ceremony.
The next Asian Games will be held in Doha, Qatar, in 2030.
Every medal comes from years of hard work. Athletes practise almost every day, even when they feel tired. They also learn to win and lose with a smile.
Think about it: Which sport would you like to play at the Asian Games one day, and why?
