Did you know?

  1. Pelé of Brazil is the only footballer to win three World Cups. He won his first when he was just 17!

  2. Gymnast Simone Biles is only about 142 cm tall. Some very difficult gymnastics moves are named after her!

  3. In 1935, runner Jesse Owens set five world records. It all took him just 45 minutes!

Try this: Warm Up Like a Champion

Athletes always warm up before they play. Try this champion warm-up in an open space. March on the spot for 30 seconds. Make 10 big arm circles forwards and 10 backwards. Do 10 gentle star jumps. Then slowly reach down towards your toes and count to 10. Now your body is ready to play!

Go further: The First Olympic Marathon

The marathon race comes from an old Greek story. A messenger is said to have run from Marathon to Athens with big news. The first modern Olympic marathon was held in Athens in 1896. The winner was Spyridon Louis, a Greek man who carried water for a living! Today, a marathon is about 42 kilometres long. How long do you think you would take to walk just 1 kilometre?
