Movie Time!
Lights, camera, action! Movies are made by many people working together. Let's find out what happens behind the camera.
Did you know?
Long ago, movies had no sound. Words were shown on cards, and music was played live.
Indian movies are made in many languages, like Telugu, Hindi, Tamil and Bengali.
Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad is huge. Many movies are shot there.
Try this: Shadow Show
Make a cinema at home! In a dark room, shine a torch on a plain wall. Put your hands between the torch and the wall. Make a bird, a dog or a rabbit with your fingers. Tell a short story with your shadow puppets. Make tickets for your family!
Go further: Sound Magic
Many sounds in movies are added later, in a studio. Sound artists called Foley artists make them. They clap coconut shells together to sound like horses' hooves. They walk and stomp on different floors to make footsteps. Next time you watch a movie, listen carefully. Is that sound real, or a clever trick?
