Did you know?
An octopus has three hearts and blue blood! Two hearts pump blood through its gills, and one pumps it around the body. Its blood looks blue because it uses copper to carry oxygen.
On Venus, one day is longer than one year! Venus spins so slowly that it takes 243 Earth days to turn once, but only about 225 Earth days to go around the Sun.
On a sunny day, the top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris can move up to 18 cm away from the Sun! The side facing the Sun warms up and its metal expands, pushing the top away.
Try this: Fact or fib?
Write five amazing facts on separate cards: four true ones from books or this page, and one fib you make up. Read them aloud to your family and ask them to spot the fib. Then check each 'true' fact in an encyclopedia, or on a trusted website with an adult. Good fact-checkers always look for proof!
Go further: Bridges that grow
In Meghalaya, the Khasi and Jaintia people grow bridges! They slowly guide the roots of rubber fig trees across streams, over many years. The roots grow thicker and stronger with time, until people can walk across them. Near the village of Nongriat, there is even a famous 'Double Decker' root bridge, with one bridge above another! A well-cared-for living bridge can last for hundreds of years.
