Gadgets get smaller and smarter every year. But where did they begin? Let's meet a brick-sized phone, a 'mouse' and a king with a blue tooth!
Did you know?
The first call on a handheld mobile phone was made in 1973. That phone weighed about 1 kg and was nicknamed 'the brick'!
India's first mobile phone call was made on 31 July 1995. It went from Kolkata to Delhi.
The first computer mouse was built in the 1960s. Its wire looked like a mouse's tail, which probably gave it its name!
Try this: Invent a Helper Gadget
Think about someone in your family. What job is hard for them? Maybe finding glasses or reaching a high shelf. Invent a gadget to help them! Draw it and label its parts. Does it beep, glow, talk or move? Give it a name. Explain to your family how it works. Remember: never open real gadgets or batteries.

Your earbuds and speakers may connect using Bluetooth. But why such a funny name? Over 1,000 years ago, Denmark had a king named Harald Bluetooth. He brought many groups together under one rule. In 1997, an engineer named Jim Kardach suggested his name. Bluetooth joins gadgets together, just as the king joined people. Its logo mixes the king's initials, H and B, in old letters called runes!
