Famous Indian Monuments
Long ago, people built palaces, towers and temples. Many still stand today! Let's visit some famous monuments of India.
Did you know?
Charminar in Hyderabad means 'four towers'. 'Char' means four and 'minar' means tower.
Hawa Mahal in Jaipur means 'Palace of Winds'. Its many little windows let cool breezes in.
The Konark Sun Temple in Odisha looks like a giant stone chariot. It has huge carved wheels.
Try this: Build a Monument
Use blocks, clay or empty boxes to build your own Charminar. Make four tall towers, one at each corner. Add a big arch in the middle. Give your monument a name. Then tell your family a story about it!
Go further: The Clapping Fort
Golconda Fort in Hyderabad stands on a hill. It has a clever sound trick. Guides say people at the top can hear a clap at the gate! Long ago, this helped guards send a quick warning. If you visit, try clapping at the gate!
