Fascinating Nature
Nature's Art
Nature is a wonderful artist. It paints stripes, spots and shapes everywhere. Can you spot nature's art around you?
Did you know?
Bees build honeycomb with six-sided rooms. This shape is called a hexagon.
No two zebras have exactly the same stripes. Each pattern is special, like your fingerprint.
A peacock's tail feathers have shiny 'eye' patterns. They shimmer in blue and green.
Try this: Leaf Rubbing
Place a leaf under a thin sheet of paper, bumpy side up. Hold the paper still. Gently rub the side of a crayon over it. Watch the leaf's lines and edges appear like magic! Try different leaves and colours. Make a leafy picture.

In Kerala, people make a pookalam for the festival of Onam. It is a round design made with flower petals. It is laid out on the ground, often in front of homes. Some pookalams are huge and made by many people together. It is art made with nature's own colours!
