'Origami' is a Japanese word. 'Ori' means fold and 'kami' means paper.
In origami, you can make animals, boats and boxes just by folding. Usually, there is no cutting or glue!
In Japan, people fold paper cranes to make a wish. Some fold 1,000 cranes for a friend who is unwell!

Take a square sheet of paper. Fold it in half to make a triangle. Keep the long side at the top. Fold the two side corners down to make floppy ears. Fold the bottom tip up a little to make a chin. Draw eyes and a nose. Woof!

Scientists borrow ideas from origami! Big solar panels must fit inside a small rocket. So engineers fold them up, like origami. In space, the panels unfold into a big sheet to catch sunlight. Try it: fold a paper like a fan, then pull the ends. See how it spreads out?
